Title: The Simple Life / Topic: Fulfilled Living

Today’s Reading: Ezra 1; Psalm 84; Psalm 85; Luke 7

Scripture: Psalm 85:10
10 Love and faithfulness meet together;
righteousness and peace kiss each other.

Observation: I love these poetic words that express deep truths. Love and faithfulness meet together: True love cannot exist without faithfulness. Faithfulness implies not only loyalty to the loved one through good and bad times but also a self-sacrifice to insure the well-being of the one loved. Faithful love desires to make sure all the needs of the other one are met without a hint of martyrdom when sacrifice is required to meet those needs. Any other kind of love is narcissistic in nature; self is more important than the one loved. Righteousness and peace kiss each other: When one lives in integrity, doing what is right, peace is a natural result. There is no guilt, shame, or fear of discovery. A person living righteously can be totally transparent because his motives and actions are pure.

Application: It's so simple! Be faithful in love and live righteously and you will have a fulfilled life. Peace will reign in your heart.

Prayer: Father, thank you for making it simple for us to know how to have a happy life. May we all choose to live by your simple wisdom.
This I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Cynthia, What great insight into this simple verse! Living the good life is not complicated. God makes it simple and attainable. We add all kind of complexity and stress. GET BACK TO BASICS.
