Deliver Me

SCRIPTURE: Ps. 144:11-14

11 Deliver me and rescue me
from the hands of foreigners
whose mouths are full of lies,
whose right hands are deceitful.

12 Then our sons in their youth
will be like well-nurtured plants,
and our daughters will be like pillars
carved to adorn a palace.
13 Our barns will be filled
with every kind of provision.
Our sheep will increase by thousands,
by tens of thousands in our fields;
14 our oxen will draw heavy loads.[b]
There will be no breaching of walls,
no going into captivity,
no cry of distress in our streets.

OBSERVATIONS: There is something that precedes obtaining the blessings listed in verses 12-14. It is being delivered from lies and deceit, especially those of "foreigners", which I would take to mean those who don't serve the same God that I do.

APPLICATION: It is so easy to be affected by our culture; to have our beliefs shaped by the attitudes of worldly people around us. We are born, live and grow up in a culture that does not acknowledge the supremacy of God's Word and I think we often do not even realize the lies and deceptions we have been raised with nor how it affects our interpretation of the Word when we do come to Christ. I must ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to me what lies and deceptions I have erroneously believed so that I may get rid of them. This puts me in a place to receive all the blessings of God.

PRAYER: Father in heaven, You are holy and to be praised. With You resides all truth. Show me Your truth. Deliver me from all lies and deceptions. I want them far from me so that I may receive all the blessings You intend for me to have. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
