Title: Confirming Faith/Topic: Words
Today’s Reading: Judges 13; Judges 14; Judges 15; Judges 16; 2 Corinthians 2
Scripture: Judges 13:12
12 So Manoah asked him, "When your words are fulfilled, what is to be the rule for the boy's life and work?"
Observation: Manoah spoke to the angel of the Lord with words of faith and not doubt. Notice he said to the angel,”When your words are fulfilled...” not “If your words are fulfilled...”, indidcating an expectation that their fulfillment was a certainty. He confirmed his faith with his words.
Application: There is a verse in Mark 11:24 which says, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”. I need to learn to speak in accordance with what I believe to be true. A friend of mine once said that our mouths are are the guage of our faith. If what we say with our words doesn't line up with what we believe, then we aren't fully convinced that what we say we believe is true. My speech and my belief need to be in alignment in order for me to receive all the manifestation of God's promises to me.
Prayer: Father, sometimes I know things to be true in my head from reading your Word but I am not yet convinced in my heart of the truth of those things. I can tell that because my words express doubt and don't line up with what I say I believe. Help me to be congruent in all things and to align myself fully with the truth in your Word. I want to see your glory manifested in all kinds of signs, wonders, and miracles. Work in me until my words, my heart and my head are all in agreement so that my faith grows and manifests itself in seeing your will done on earth as it is in heaven.
This I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
